MANUFACTURER'S WORK INSTRUCTIONS

BLACK BRONZE PATINA

1, Before use make sure protective gloves are worn, surgical/marigold.

 2, Empty contents into plastic/metal cup/jar

3, Slowly add water to mix and stir until it begins to bind.

4, Add more water until a slurry has been achieved

A grey oily swirl should be seen when the slurry is at its optimum.

5, Prepare surface of material, this should be clean and free from grease.

6, Wire Wool / Scotchbrite / Emery / to lightly etch the surface before patination.

7, Brush the slurry onto surface of material. This only needs to be enough to cover the area required.

8, Before the slurry dries burnish the area covered with a Bronzing Brush.

(Tip: For darker results use a Steel Vertex Brush or for lighter results use a Brass Brush.)

9, Work the covered area into the material until it has patinated.

Burnish “against” the grain whilst brushing on your first coat, this will give you a deeper patina once the second coat has been applied.

10, Apply second coat to the same area, then burnish again. This time going “with” the grain. Add further coats for a darker finish.

11, Wax or lacquer should be applied once the required patina has been achieved.
